Creation / planning process

I wanted to create a flat full of light and white shades with accents in black, grey and a touch of gold here to add some warmth. To start off the flat was totally stripped. It consisted of a lot of small dark rooms. The idea was to create a feeling of space even though the apartment is only 120m2. So walls were knocked down, ceilings stripped, beams and original brickwork exposed. A tedious and slow process, but worth the effort.

The natural materials and contrasting white walls work very well together and the furniture complements the whole look. Different shades and materials of white were used for the furniture with touches of black, grey and the subtle lighting around the edge of the ceiling. Gold accessories and taps were chosen for warmth and a touch of glamour.

How it went?

It was relatively painless with just a few hiccups, such as the builders putting in the all the tiles the wrong way and ordering the wrong size windows for a couple of the rooms and some of the materials were very slow in arriving. Nothing we couldn’t rectify and a great learning curve!

Favourite room / part of the project and why?

My Favourite rooms are the kitchen and living area which can be open or closed off. Although not a large flat, the living area feels very comfortable, open and spacious with plenty of light.

Any issues / problems you had to overcome during the project?

The slow delivery of some materials held up the project a little and installing the fireplace presented a bit of a challenge, but apart from that it was pretty much plain sailing.
